For a while now, me and Björn Sundling have been talking about starting an Azure user group in Uppsala. We've both been active in the community for years, attending meetups, giving talks, and generally geeking out about anything Azure and PowerShell. But Uppsala never had a dedicated space for it.

Well, we finally did it. The Uppsala Azure User Group (UAUG) is now a thing.

The idea is simple: bring tech people in Uppsala together to share knowledge, learn from each other, and stay up to date with the latest technologies within the Microsoft sphere and cloud. Whether you're a seasoned cloud architect or just getting started with your first Azure subscription, everyone is welcome. And our events are free, always will be.

The Kickoff

Our first meetup is on May 7, 2026 at Viedoc in Uppsala (right by the Central Station). We have room for 35 people, food and drinks are on us, and we've got two sessions lined up:

  • Björn Sundling - "Bicep: From Beginner to Pro"
  • Yours truly - "Your Azure Security Posture Needs a Second Opinion"

I'm genuinely excited about this. After my first-ever public session at NIS24, getting into more community-driven events just felt like the natural next step. There's something special about presenting to a smaller group where people actually come because they want to. No corporate obligation, just curiosity and the desire to learn.

What's next

We want this to be something that keeps growing and meeting regularly. If you're in or around Uppsala and interested in Azure, DevOps, infrastructure as code, security, or anything in the Microsoft cloud sphere, come join us.

Check out uppsalaazure.com for details, and feel free to reach out if you want to give a talk at a future meetup. We'd love to hear from you.

See you there!
